You go to class, show up for your friends, and do everything you’re supposed to. So why are you anxious most of the time, second-guessing every decision, and worn out by the end of the day even when you got it all done?
When your thoughts won’t slow down, sleep doesn’t come easily, and you’re constantly second-guessing yourself, even the good parts of college start to feel like work. You just want to relax and enjoy this part of your life.
Through therapy for college women at Designed for Connection Counseling Center™ in Fort Worth, you can turn down the mental noise, get to know yourself outside of everyone’s expectations, and build the confidence to handle school, relationships, and whatever comes next.

What Therapy for College Women Can Help You With:
College is supposed to be the time when everything comes together, but for a lot of women, it’s when everything starts to feel like too much. New friendships, dating, harder classes, a job, and living away from home for the first time all land at once, and nobody hands you the instructions. Add the pressure to look like you’re loving it, and it’s easy to end up anxious, worn out, and unsure of yourself in a way you can’t explain to anyone.
At Designed for Connection Counseling Center™, we work with students from TCU, Texas Wesleyan, the University of Texas at Arlington, Tarleton State University, and Weatherford College, as well as students who are home for the summer or attending online from anywhere in Texas. If the transition to college hasn’t gone the way you pictured, if friendships or dating feel more stressful than fun, or if your inner critic has gotten louder since move-in day, this is a good place to start.

How We Support Students in Fort Worth & Across Texas

IFS is built on a simple idea: you're made up of parts, and none of them are the enemy. There's the part that studies until 3 AM so nobody can call you lazy, the part that goes quiet in a group so you don't say the wrong thing, and the part that picks you apart in the mirror. In therapy, you'll get to know those parts, understand what they're trying to protect you from, and help them relax, so decisions come from a calmer, more confident place instead of from fear.

EFT is built on the idea that we're wired for connection, and that relationship pain often comes from how we protect that need. It might be the text to your boyfriend you rewrite five times, the group chat that seems to move on without you, the sorority sister you're avoiding, or the fight with your mom that was never about the dishes. In therapy, you'll slow those moments down, name what's underneath, and practise asking for what you need, so you can feel steadier in your relationships.

Between classes, commuting, and a schedule that changes every semester, getting to an office isn't always realistic. Online sessions let you meet with your therapist from your dorm, your car between classes, or your childhood bedroom over winter break, anywhere in Texas.

How Therapy For College Women Works
1. Start with your story
Your first session is about getting to know you. We take the time to understand who you are, what's been weighing on you, where things feel stuck, and what you want to change.
2. Shape your path
From there, we work together to identify your goals and develop a plan. Using IFS, you'll get to know the parts of you that get anxious or hold you to impossible standards, and learn what they're trying to protect you from.
3. Transform and grow
As those parts start to trust you, you'll notice it gets easier to make choices that feel like your own, from setting boundaries with a roommate to going out without replaying it the next day.
We work alongside you the whole way, helping you build a kinder relationship with yourself and celebrating the changes as they happen, big or small.

Questions College Women Ask About Therapy
Do I need a "big enough" reason to start therapy?
No. Feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or unlike yourself is reason enough. Most of the college women we see aren’t in crisis; they’re exhausted, stretched thin, and feeling a little lost. Sometimes just having someone to talk to helps you sort through your thoughts and figure out how to get through the week.
Can I do therapy online from my dorm or apartment?
Yes, as long as you’re physically in Texas during your session. Most students switch between in-person sessions in Fort Worth and online sessions depending on their week.
Will my parents find out I'm in therapy?
If you’re 18 or older, what you share in session stays between you and your therapist, with a few legal exceptions related to safety that we’ll walk through before you begin. If you’re 17, consent and privacy work a little differently under Texas law, and we’ll explain exactly what that means for your situation before you commit to anything.
What is Internal Family Systems, and is it going to feel weird?
IFS is a well-established approach to therapy that helps you understand the different sides of yourself instead of trying to shut them down. It can feel unfamiliar at first, but most students find it clicks quickly, because it puts words to something they’ve already noticed: part of them wants to go out, part of them wants to hide, and part of them is keeping score the whole time.
How long will therapy for college students take?
It depends on what you’re bringing in and what you want to get out of it. Some students feel a shift within the first few weeks; deeper work, particularly around trauma, body image, or long-standing patterns, tends to take longer. We’ll check in on your goals regularly so you always know where things stand.
What if my schedule changes every semester?
We’ll build around it! Your therapist will work with you to find a rhythm that fits your class load, and the option to move between in-person and online sessions makes it easier to stay consistent when things get busy.
What if I don't know what to talk about?
That’s more common than you’d think. You don’t need to show up with a list or a clear reason. We’ll start with whatever’s on your mind that week, even if it’s “I don’t know, I just feel off,” and go from there.
How often will we meet?
Most students start with weekly sessions, since that’s what helps things move. As you start feeling better, we’ll talk about spacing them out. It’s your call, and we’ll adjust as your semester changes.
My problems feel small compared to what other people are going through. Should I still come?
Yes. Feeling anxious, worn out, or stuck in your head is enough of a reason. Comparing your struggles to someone else’s is often part of what keeps you from getting help, and it’s something we can work on together.
What if the therapist I'm matched with isn't the right fit?
Just tell us. Finding the right person matters more than sticking with the first one, and we’d rather help you switch than have you push through sessions that aren’t working.
